Kenya is an East African republic on the Indian Ocean. It is bordered by Uganda, Tanzania, Somalia, Ethiopia and Sudan. Kenya won its independence from Britain in 1963. In early 2008, violence in the country affected the training of some of Kenya's athletes.

Two-hundreths of a second. Not much can happen because it happens in a flash. Yet, in that moment, lived the Olympic dream of Rend Lake College's greatest athlete, Boaz Lalang, and everyone rooting for him back in Southern Illinois.
Day 16: A golden finish After 16 days, competition came to a close in the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Team USA finished up top the medal count with 110 total medals, including 36 gold, 38 silver and 36 bronze. Two golds came on the last night, with wins in both men's basketball and men's volleyball.
