Having finished sixth at the world championships in 2005, fourth in 2006 at the European Championships and most recent, winning bronze at the 2007 World Championships, Germany is on the rise. Twelve years after being the third youngest female handball player in the 1996 Games, 30-year-old Grit Jurack is now the team's nucleus. She was top scorer at the Worlds in 2007 and is equipped to duplicate efforts in her second Olympic appearance. Nadine Krause, a deceptively talented and strong shooter, was the 2006 World Handballer of the Year.
